The Right To Say No (To Salman Taseer)

He came, he saw, he conquered. Muhammad Shahid, a law student and the top position holder of session 2004-07 of LLB programme. As he went onto the stage, he refused his medal from the Governor Punjab, asking the Governor why no action has been taken against the culprits of the May 12 carnage in Karachi
Perhaps the student forgot that Taseer is the Governor of Punjab, not Sindh, where Karachi is located. However the student also said that he didn’t agree with the Governor’s statements which is also why he refused the medal.
This act of the student maybe ‘shameful’ or ‘disrespecting’ but I won’t blame the student for that. The student didn’t agree with Taseer therefore he showed his disagreement, after all it was only a once in a lifetime chance for the student, he won’t be getting it again.
